Purpose and goal
The aim of the project carried out was primarily to explore the possibility of scaling up the new electrolytic treatment from lab-scale to pilot scale. A working equipment on a pilot scale for smelting electrolysis and chlorination was developed and built within the project. Also, a working concept for the treatment of lead-containing glass has been identified and tested in practice.

Structure and implementation
Although the project suffered extensive delays due to late delivery of test equipment, work could be carried out in a satisfactory manner. A problem in the project was an assumption in the application that turned out not to work in practice. A new approach was therefore developed and used in the project. Functioning equipment designed and developed within the project as well as a working concept has been identified and tested in practice. The project has generated a considerable competence within both electrolysis and chloride-based metallurgy.

Results
The developed equipment will be used to conduct further studies of the technique of treatment of additional materials. The project has generated a considerable competence development for Swerea Mefos in both electrolysis and chloride-based metallurgy.
