Project plan
Purpose and goal
The purpose of the project is to highlight the role of the mining and minerals industry and the interaction with society in sustainable social transformation and, together with various relevant stakeholders in society, discuss and drill into the importance of the mining and mineral industry in a sustainable society and the challenges and opportunities it faces. The goal is a picture of the future mining and mineral industry role in sustainable social development and a strategic activity program to navigate from behind for a clear contribution to sustainable social development in the continued operations.
Structure and implementation
The project will investigate how the mining and mineral industry will navigate in relation to sustainable social development. Based on future scenarios it will be analysed how the industry can be a part of sustainable social transformation, continue to contribute to economic development while contributing to the sustainable development agenda as well as being a driving force for change, rather than just responding to societal change. The project is run by Svemin and SEI, with participation from both industry, relevant community actors and stakeholders.
Expected results
The expected result is a clear picture of the role of the future mining and mineral industry in sustainable social development and a developed “strategic activity program” for the industry to navigate from, to contribute to the sustainable development of society during continued operations and business. The expected effects are that the mining and mineral industry should be part of sustainable social transformation by continuing to contribute to economic development and clearly contributing to the sustainable development agenda.
