New Program Director at SIP STRIM

2019-03-19

At the beginning of 2019 Jenny Greberg became the new Program Director for SIP STRIM, the strategic innovation program for the mining and metal producing industry. Jenny, who has previously been Head of  Technology and Innovation within the program, takes over the role from Anna Utsi. Jenny is also Research and Innovation Director at Svemim and will continue to shoulder the assignments at SIP STRIM and Svemin simultaneously.

Jenny Greberg is an associate professor in Mining and Rock Engineering at Luleå University of Technology and her expertise is in the field of optimization of mining production processes. She also has experience from both industry and small businesses, as well as extensive experience from international R&D projects and has previously been a member of the EIT RawMaterials management team, the European innovation initiative for raw materials based in Berlin. Jenny has been with the SIP STRIM program since the start five years ago, and has also been a driving force in the work on the strategic innovation agendas.

– It is very exciting to take over as Program Director. We are a well-functioning organization, and today, 5 years after we first started the program we are starting to see results from the work we have put in. In 2020 we are entering a new program period and I look forward to evaluating the program during the year and also developing it further in the years to come. Sweden is a world-leading actor in the mining industry and SIP STRIM will continue to push the development forward together with industry, academia and institutes. In 2019 we will further strengthen our team, which gives us new opportunities to develop the programme, says Jenny Greberg.

Luleå University of Technology stands as the host for the SIP STRIM program. As much of the research directed towards the mining industry is conducted at LTU, this also strengthens the role of LTU as the hub for the Swedish mining innovation system.

– It is great that Jenny has taken on the job as Program Director at SIP STRIM. I have worked with Jenny for many years and in several different roles within the academy and also earlier in SIP STRIM. I can only congratulate SIP STRIM for a wise choice, says Pär Weihed, deputy principal at Luleå University of Technology.
