Update of the Fossil-free roadmap
In 2018, the mining industry, as one of the first in Sweden, developed the a roadmap for fossil free mining and steel production. This was done within the framework of Fossil-free Sweden. The work was led by Svemin and financed by Swedish Mining Innovation. Since 2018 much has happened and the industry is taking rapid steps in the transformation towards becoming fossil free, and there is an obvious need for an update of the roadmap. The update will also include the aspects of energy need and availability, add have a more future- and product-oriented perspective, both national and global. The roadmap will be completed in the autumn.
CLIMB follows Mining with nature
Following the important and successful project Mining with Nature, we are now launching the project CLIMB. The project aims to develop a model for measuring biological diversity with in relation to land use. This will enable increased predictability in permitting processes, increased cost efficiency and sustainability and a better possibility to integrate biological diversity in the companies business models. The project is lead by Ecogain and partners are Boliden, Cementa, LKAB, Skellefteå kraft, SCA, Specialfastigheter, Svenska kraftnät and Vattenfall.
