Purpose and goal
This pre-study will deliver the digital twin of the typical operations of a network of mining and quarry sites based on operational data collection, value and sustainability models, and simulations. This will allow engineers designing fully electrical and autonomous machines to quickly forecast, in an early stage of development, the economic and environmental impacts of new machines and systems configurations
Expected results and effects
The results of the project are expected to consistently reduce the development time and the time to market for cost-efficient autonomous solutions based on electromobility in the construction equipment, speeding up the shift to a fossil-free industry, while at the same time lowering the environmental impact and delivering a safer workspace by moving away workers from risky environments.
Planned approach and implementation
Here the list of the main deliverables planned in the project: Deliverable 1: Mapping of main economical and sustainability-related trend in construction equipment for the design of autonomous and electrical sites. Deliverable 2: Prototype 1 of the combination of discrete event and systems dynamics simulation to create the digital twin. Deliverable 7: Follow up plan to scale up the project Deliverable 8: Final project report: Description of the digital twin, its validation and full plan for further development
