Recently, a new call was opened within the strategic innovation program Swedish Mining Innovation with as much as SEK 45 million in the pot for innovation projects for the mining industry. It is the largest investment the program has ever made, with almost a doubling compared to previous years’ calls.
The call finances shorter pre-studies, full-scale innovation projects or pilot and demo projects, which will address the challenges defined in the industry’s strategic research and innovation roadmap. A special focus for this year’s call is innovations that deal with resource efficiency and sustainability. New for this year is that you can apply for innovation projects in the order of up to SEK 15 million, something that industry players have requested.
– This is the largest investment the program has ever made and it provides increased opportunities to support even slightly larger projects, something that has been requested by the actors, says Jenny Greberg.
The call, which includes a financing of SEK 45 million, requires co-financing with the same amount from partners, which will result in innovation projects for SEK 90 million.
The call, which opened on 18 May, has an application deadline of 11 November 2021. Applications will be assessed by an international expert group, and a decision on which projects will receive funding will be made at the end of February.
