Syfte och mål
This project is a critical aspect on the path to developing a bulk explosives based exclusively on a hydrogen peroxide oxidiser. Previous project work has proven that the HP explosive concept as viable, but to fully displace the status quo, a number of safety and operational criteria need to be achieved. This project aims to satisfy this safety and operational criteria.
Förväntade effekter och resultat
The planned testing is comprehensive and focuses on understanding sensitised and unsensitised matrix shelf life, sleep time in blast holes, safety aspects of external heating with matrix confinement and forced decomposition as a worst-case scenario. Understanding these aspects of bulk explosives is critical to ensuring safety of operation and a viable customer product solution. Informal testing and theoretical calculations indicate that all aforementioned criteria will be satisfied, regardless, physical testing must conclusively confirm this.
Planerat upplägg och genomförande
The project will be split into two parallel sub-projects, one each for Hypex Bio’s Stockholm test facility and Boliden’s Kankberg operation. The Stockholm facility will manage the confinement and forced decomposition testing as this does not require extended storage. The Hypex Bio Kankberg laboratory will manage all the testing that involves extended storage, used to prove up shelf life and sleep time. Both sub project will require specialist equipment to be designed and constructed to facilitate the testing required.
